Wee Beastie

Ain't never seen a beastie like this before!

I’m looking for some help from my animal loving mates… Anyone seen a beastie like this before?  I haven’t. He was on the window earlier, and now he’s next to me on the stereo. He’s a bit weird, but very docile, he was a very good portrait subject. Here’s a top down photo in case it helps.

Can anyone help?

Between Bobby J and myself, we got the bug(ger)! He is a Hawthorn Shield Bug, or Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale, and he’s really quite pretty. Seemingly, until recently, very rare in Scotland, although they have been seen in the Highlands recently. Wonder if it’s really strange to see one in a city like Glasgow? And what’s with the haemorrhoids link? (Update, think it’s maybe cos he can make stinky smells, thus the arse link?)

Check out this for a peach of a picture of one… This guy took the pic with the same camera as mine, but I tried and failed to get it last night… I think the guy must have had a macro lens, plus the artificial lighting stymied my attempt.

Finally got my stuff back and rescued my camera from my stinking kit bag. What a great night this was overall. Game was brilliant and then night out after hilarious. Loved it. You can read a match report.

Loch Lomond Adventure

BitsofBobs has already covered most of this (he blogged pretty much as soon as he got in, I went straight to bed, ah well) so I’ll keep it neat, with plenty pics, for this was, most of all, a trip on a sunny May bank holiday to take photos with our new (and newish) fancy cameras! Great fun.

Well, following on from my best present ever post, I thought it was probably about time I posted some photos. The only problem is the weather’s been awful, and I’ve been doing nothing but work, so the only time I have to play with the camera is in the flat. Which means I have one subject, Kat. I’d hate to live with me.

Best present EVER!!!

Went up to Aviemore at the weekend. Still love it up there, as much as ever. Just me and paw, slobbed around, ate lots of nice food, and got out in the snow. Great to see some snow, get my fix for the winter, had barely seen any until this weekend! Anyway, Dad gave me my birthday present (2 months) early, a digital SLR camera, genius! They brought it back from the States. I’m like a wee boy with a new toy at xmas. No excuses for not getting some decent pics up on here now!

Kat eats a chocolate rabbit. JeeI had a funny animated gif of Kat stuffing her face but you can’t put them up here, and the link isn’t working and it’s getting late and I can’t be arsed getting it to work and the touchpad on my laptop drives me nuts so I’m stopping here.

Armageddon

One of the bonuses of going to work early is seeing sunrises like this. Spectacular, I thought the world was about to end. On the downside, it was cold enough to make the pavement seriously slippy this morning, nearly went over a good few times.

Still walking the long way round, it’s getting annoying now.

Christmas Morning

 

No snow this year unfortunately, but a seriously beautiful, sunny morning with an extremely heavy frost still made for a white Christmas!  Went for a walk with my sis, couldn’t resist the photo opportunities.

Been having a great Christmas as usual, always good fun. Sleeping and eating pretty much sums it all up, as it should. Brilliant.
