Brilliant, I get to chain 2 fried chicken posts in a row, you’d never guess I love it. Spent the weekend in Paris, this shop made us laugh…

Chicken at 5am

November 3, 2008

Sometimes it’s difficult to choose what you want to eat when you’re on your way home at 5am after a spot of nightlife. We went to Sam’s Chicken, Greg, Indie Martin and I, and stood for a good few minutes trying to decide what to eat. In the end, Greg made them an offer.

ok, we’ll take 6 chicken burgers, 6 servings of fries, 4 bits of fried chicken and 2 cans of pepsi, and we’ll give you a tenner for it.”

And the guy replied:

“Alright, but it’ll be £11.”

It was a deal, of course. We walked out with 2 plastic bags of burgers, one of chips, one of chicken and 2 cans of pepsi in Indie Martin’s pockets.

Looks nice!

October 17, 2008

I have to disagree with the 14th Oct, 10.28am comment on this recipe, I think it looks nice! The guy has a way with words tho.

Edit: bah, looks like they’ve finally got round to removing that comment.

Man Food Girl Food

September 3, 2008

Tonight, I played a game of football, and Kat went to the gym (so she says). When I came in, she was just finishing off the prep for a lovely tuna salad. Very nice. I heated up a tin of spaghetti hoops with sausages, and chucked it on some toast. Man food girl food.

Baba Ganoush

August 3, 2008

Tried to make some Baba Ganoush tonight. Failed. You’re meant to get it over a gas flame, or under a hot grill to char it plenty and get a nice smoky flavour into it. My aubergine exploded, it was pretty darn scary, and messy.

Campbell’s Meatballs

June 24, 2008

The great Campbell’s Meatball’s have been an ever-present crutch at my side. Since primary school myself and my brother have adored them, to the point that even today, whenever eating meatballs we religiously text each other “are you a hungry little monster?”, and nothing more. The reply is usually something of the sort of “fuck yeh, brilliant idea, i’m getting some out the cupboard”. I’ve spent years perfecting my dish: serve them with rice, and the preparation involves the addition of a finely tuned gloopiness of gravy, and the use of a potato masher. When Campbell’s disappeared from the tin, and Frae Bentos appeared, I was heartbroken.

Served some to Bobby J on Sunday, he LOVED it really, check it out. I should also stress, I do normally cook healthy food, Meatballs is a treat (and a damn good one). In fact I had some amazing Kedgeree Risotto in the fridge to eat up, which was my plan until Rob turned up and made me eat filth. I should also point out he came back from Somerfield with 4 BBQ flavour porkish things and some chicken tikka bites, while I came back with some quality scottish strawberries and a big tub of low fat yoghurt. So take that.

Meatballs = amazing. One day I’ll serve them to my boss at a dinner party or something. Ace.

Feein’ Market

June 8, 2008

Brilliant weekend, first trip back to Stoney with a decent bunch of lads for too long. Bobby J, Saunders and Chris “I’m NOT A VEGETARIAN” Terry were all in attendence, banter had been great from the drive up the road, could tell it was gonna be a goodun. Occasion sort of the Feein’ Market, a kind of town fair sorta thing, which in the olden days was when farmers would hire their “fees”, or hired hands for the summer. Nowadays it’s just a ton of stalls making money for charity, complete with a bar, burgers and CAMERON STOUT.

Lunch for 2

April 10, 2008

Right, I’m properly skint. I’m not being paid any more until I finish my PhD and go and get a job (not strictly true, there are bits and bobs coming in, but never mind). At this very moment in time I have £2.11 in my bank account. BitsofBobs and I are away to magical Somerfield on St Enoch Square to get lunch. My shout. Our budget is £2.11, funnily enough. Will report back after.

Ok, so it went very well. Here’s our budget, at the bottom of our basket.

Healthy Dinner

January 20, 2008

 AngelDelight

Kat and I spent some time making some nice home made lasagne and some beautiful home made ciabatta. Lovely. Then we spoiled it by having Angel Delight for pudding. I think I was maybe influenced by BitsofBobs’ hunt for Pop Tarts. Check the ingredients.

Maltodextrin, Modified Starch, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Whey Powder, Emulsifiers (Propane-1, 2-Diol Esters of Fatty Acids, Soya Lecithin), Gelling Agents (Tetrasodium Diphosphate, Disodium Phosphate), Milk Proteins, Colours (Plain Caramel, Annatto, Beta-carotene), Flavourings, Anti-caking Agent (Silicon Dioxide), Salt, Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K). Contains a source of Phenylalanine.

Scary. PROPANE??????

I’m away to eat it now.

Me&Ibrahim

Is brilliant! My friend Faisal and his wife Kiran had us round for dinner last night, amazing curry food. Loved it. They have 2 year old twins (Ibrahim & Maryam) which was great entertainment. I was dragged into their wendy house at one point for some “chai”. Imagined food always tastes amazing!
