The Sauchiehall Crawl

By Macca

Bobby J and I went to see some music last night, The Sauchiehall Crawl, which was a kind of mini festival taking place in 3 venues on Sauchiehall Street. We had a few too many beers for a school night, enough to attempt throwing Bobby J’s camera across a train track, and to purchase King Rib. Filth.

Anyway, Bobby J came up with a genius idea for reviewing the gigs, this one might be a grower. We took photos of ourselves after each band we saw, trying to make a face showing what we’d thought. I’m now going to try to decipher Bobby J’s feelings, and he’s going to do mine.

First up, Ross Clark in Nice & Sleazy’s.

Bobby J didn't think much of Ross Clark.

Evidently, Bobby J didn’t think too much of Ross Clark’s faux-american accent and lovely check shirt. He didn’t dislike him however, and felt slightly sorry for him for the sound problems he had at the start of the set. Not too bad a start to the evening.

Next, El Padre in The Beat Club.

Bemused

Bobby J was left slightly bemused by El Padre, with their electronic beats and funny hair dos. He was also surprised to see Ross Clark’s banjo player playing guitar. Again, not bad, but nothing to shout about.

Then we saw De Rosa, still in The Beat Club.

I like!

Quite obviously pleased with the De Rosa gig, even though we left a little early to go to the next event. Or maybe he’s just chuffed at seeing the drummer’s permanent cum face. Things were getting a bit busier now, which was nice, at the beginning there was hardly anyone around. Oh, and Gemma McRae from Mackie made an appearance.

Next up, The Twilight Sad in ABC2.

Enjoying it.

I wonder if I’m allowed to give my opinions now seeing as this is a joint picture? Best not. Anway, Bobby J definitely loved this one, they were really pretty impressive, and he LOVES that first track off the album. Also pretty pished by this point.

Finally headed back to The Beat Club to catch a bit of Galchen, who were pretty pish. They didn’t even merit a photo, although I think the throwing the camera across the train track idea was maybe something to do with the Galchen picture. Not sure. Train home with King Rib supper, job done.

Struggling today, and Bobby J just made me eat a KFC. Chicken sweats.

I’ve just listened to Galchen on myspace, and I’m liking.

Why do we insist on going to KFC?

we both know it’s too filthy…I think the after effects get worse the older you are…like hangovers as you get older.
